Dr. Patricia Riley is a practicing Chiropractor and clinic director/owner at Chiropractic Wellness and Rehabilitation. Dr. Riley became interested in Chiropractic after visiting a Chiropractor at a young age for the treatment of migraines, but she has always been interested in Health Care.
Dr. Riley attained her Degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University after being offered early acceptance into CMCC- Canada’s Doctor of Chiropractic Program. Dr. Riley has also earned her Masters Degree in Health Sciences and Certificate in University Teaching.
After a rigorous four years she attained her Doctoral Degree in Chiropractic. In 2008, Dr. Riley and her husband opened up their multi-disciplinary clinic located near Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa. Their clinic treats all ages, and most conditions very successfully and conservatively. She is highly educated in exercise and nutrition and encourages the importance of these variables in everyday life. Her assessments include a thorough history, examination, report of findings, and discussion.
Treatment plans are customized to each individual patients and may or may not include: spinal manipulation, joint and muscle mobilization (stretching), vibration therapy, electrical modalities, low level laser therapy, ultrasound application, muscle release therapy, guasha techniques, nutritional and exercise advice, external referral, at-home active advice etc. She believes that every person and every condition varies enough to warrant a customized approach. Personal preferences are always considered when discussing treatment plans. During your first visit we will also explain what Chiropractic is, and answer any concerns that you may have. Dr. Riley enjoys treating all conditions, and has experience treating most demographics, including pregnant and newborn populations. Dr. Riley is also trained in custom orthotic assessment and compression stocking fitting.
Dr. Riley is certified in Concussion management including neurological, cognitive and physical testing (pre and post-concussion). She also has a Master of Health Sciences degree focusing on balance testing and mild traumatic brain injuries. She has experience as a part-time Professor at Durham College and a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Trent University within the Faculty of Biology. Dr. Riley has also been a fulltime Academic Associate Professor at Ontario Tech University, teaching Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Pathophysiology. Dr. Riley is a mother of 3 healthy and happy boys and enjoys exercise, yoga, clean-eating, family time, teaching and more!
